Combination of widefield data from my equipment (300mm telephoto lens) (this image:
http://www.astrobin.com/95037/B/) for colour data, with deep detail data from microobservatory.org telescopes (~2 mins of data).
The data from MO was stacked in GIMP and exported to Lr for monchrome processing. The colour data was stacked in DSS and processed in Lr with a step added in GIMP for trailing removal because the mount was misaligned.
The two images were imported into GIMP, where the MO image was rescaled and aligned with the other, then some masking adjustments were made to removed some washed out areas.
Unfortunately the cores of both galaxies as well as many of the stars in the field are burnt out. This is due to the extensive processing that was required to allow for good detail in this image. The background starfield from my widefield data isn't quite to my standards either. This is because there was only 65 minutes of data in a bortle zone 9, which severely limited my magnitude.
Nonetheless, the image has much better detail and colour than the two separate datasets, so I'm pleased with the results, especially since I'm still learning how to best use this technique.
