Description

I took 45 minutes of 2 minute exposures of the comet with the hope of stacking to get a bright view of the tail. Once stacked, though, it became obvious how much the comet moved and changed over this time period. So I decided to put my sub exposures to good use and do an animation to see if you could pick up the moving comet in action. It worked! If you will just overlook the display problems inherent in converting from huge raw files to .gif files, then you should be able to appreciate this exercise. You can actually watch the tail change and the nucleus move. If you will watch closely, it actually occults the small star to the right! The animation is in the form of an infinite loop with each frame staying displayed for a quarter of a second.
