Description

NGC 6207 is often imaged not because of its own character, but instead because it is in the direction of the amazing globular cluster M13. An interesting bit of information about NGC 6207 is that the apparent stellar nucleus of the spiral galaxy NGC 6207 is in fact a foreground star. The distance steps between the two objects, NGC 6207 ~ 41 MLj

- foreground star within NGC 6207 ~ 3600 Lj.

The other galaxy in this image at the top left side is IC 4617 which appears to be close to M13 and visible in some images. However it is extremely remote and faint and is

550 Million Light Years distinct.
