Description

Located 12 million light years away in the constellation of Ursa Major. Approximately 37,00 light years in diameter.

M82 is sometimes classed as a irregular galaxy but in fact it is an edge on spiral. It has been disturbed by the passing of nearby M82 galaxy. While it looks as if the galaxy is exploding in a way it is but with new star growth. M82 is a starburst galaxy seen here with the bright HA center which is producing 10 times more stars then our own galaxy!
