Description

Lagoon nebula is a giant interstellar cloud and an open cluster of superimposed stars situated 4850 years light in the constellation Sagittarius. A lively star nursery, Messier 8 is an emission nebula, whose ionized gases, mainly hydrogen, mainly emit radiation at a wavelength in the range of red visible light and hydrogen alpha.

One of the main characteristics of cloudy Laguna is the presence of black nebulae known as Bok globules, which are protostellar clouds (star systems in formation) with diameters of about 10 000 AU.
