Description

M71 is designated as a very loosely concentrated globular cluster. It is neither large, nor bright and until recently there was some debate over whether it was truly a globular cluster at all. It is located in the Constellation Sagitta (Arrow).

To the right and below, you'll see 3 brighter stars in a near vertical line, that were not plate solved here: HD 188102 (8.31), HD 188062 (7.69), and the brightest, HD 188001/Sagitta 9 (6.25).

NOTE: This image has some flaws, but I'm putting it up to track my learning process. Having been taken with a fairly fast f/5.0 Newtonian, there's a good deal of coma here, but I plan on acquiring a corrector in the near future.

Additionally, this is an fairly wide field of view, not cropped directly from the camera. I will be uploading a cropped version of this later to see if Astrobin will plate solve the brighter stars mentioned above and then link to it here.
