Description

The head of the Gecko Nebula LBN 437 is a star nursery where the young stars produce several Herbig-Haro objects.

Herbig–Haro (HH) objects are bright patches of nebulosity associated with newborn stars. They are formed when narrow jets of partially ionised gas ejected by stars collide with nearby clouds of gas and dust.

Some HH objects are visible here: the prominent X shaped HH 398 and  HH 808, HH 811 and HH 812.
