Description

This is an update to an image that I shot in June of 2015.  It might not have been great but I sweated blood and tears over it and learned a lot from refusing to quit on it.  I spent over a year trying to get images of it and finally had to go to Rodeo, NM to get skies dark enough.  It was way too dim a target for Florida skies.  It's a super wide target and I bought a Canon f/2.8 200mm lens just to be able to get it all in the frame.  I've improved a lot and plan to shoot it again, now that I'm living in Tucson and have learned how to use, if not master, Pixinsight.  I was going to try and use my old data and reprocess it but the raw files were all in CR2, shot from a Canon XSi and after looking at all my data I'm not even sure how I managed to dig out what I did.  What I did for this was to take the finished output  from 2015 and load it into PI and continue processing it there.  Mainly I was able to extract the stars and tone them down from the massive over-abundance that the original image suffered from.

Description: This is an update to an image that I shot in June of 2015. It might not have been great but I sweated blood and tears over it and learned a lot from refusing to quit on it. I was going to try and use my old data and reprocess it but the raw files were all in CR2, shot from a modified Canon XSi and a DIY cooler, but after looking at all my data I'm not even sure how I managed to dig out what I did. What I did for this was to take the finished output from 2015 and load it into PI and continue processing it there. Mainly I was able to extract the stars and tone them down from the massive over-abundance that the original image suffered from.
