Description

Compact Group of Galaxies SDSSCGB 12925. The object up from center is actually a group of three closely interacting galaxies, the UGC 12589 (which is an AGN), SDSSCGB 12925.3 and SDSSCGB 12925.4, while the lower one is the Seifert 1 galaxy 2MASX J23250382+0001068.

This image comes from a cutout of the Subaru Strategic Survey, that uses the 8.2 Subaru telescope with a giant CCD array (Hyper Suprime-Cam). The color composite uses the sdss-i (4 subs), sdss-r (2 subs) and sdss-g (4 subs) filters for the R, G, B channnels, respectively.

Processed with PI, removed some artifacts (the disturbing blooming-like on brightest stars) and final adjustments with Ps.

Data downloaded as FITS cutout from hscMap tool, Deep-UltraDeep (dud) survey. Fields 9463 and 9706 (discarded some of the data because of large artifacts).
