Description

Taken last night on 8-13-2021.  I wanted to push the limits a bit, and see how good the modified Nikon D610 can be. A little background.  Observatory outside temperature hovered at 80F.  Humidity at around 80%. It was wicked hot and humid, very uncomfortable to be outside.  I typically image with the NikonD610 at ISO800 even in cool weather.  So this time, I wanted to try and see how it can perform in hot, humid temperatures, with higher ISO.  So I set the ISO to 1600, with no filters.  Meade 12" SCT F10, with a Starizona LF 0.7x FF/R.  ISO 1600, 22x4 minutes.  88 minutes total.  The next day, I took 4 darks at home.  Different temperature, I know, but wanted to throw them into the processing mix.  And it worked.  As you can see my stars are bit oblong.  This is not due to tracking.  It is to do with a bit of flexture in the camera train.  I believe that the camera, or reducer is every so slightly angled a bit, so the sensor is not perpendicular to the light path.  Mirror was locked and I could see that the stars were a bit tilted.  None-the-less, I wanted to see what I can get at high outside temperature and higher ISO setting.  Here it is.... Enjoy !
