Description

Close to the dominant emission nebula Sh2-86 (partially in the upper right corner) two planetary nebulae can be found.

PN LAN21 is visible in the lower rigth corner. The central star was first described in 1972 by H.H. Lanning in a list of faint stars with UV excess (https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1086/129406/pdf) and turned out later being a white dwarf.

In the upper left corner of the image an even fainter and smaller planetary nebula can be identified: PN G059.7-01.0. It was discovered by the photographic Ha survey IPHAS and first mentioned in a 2014 paper (https://academic.oup.com/mnras/article/443/4/3388/1019117?login=false).
