Description

For the past few weeks I have been preparing for my Orion window. I had a whole plan of what I wanted to do, but that was torpedoed when the RASA no longer wanted to play ball with a myriad of tilt issues. I had to call in the RedCat to fill in which had tilt issues of its own.

Now instead of doing a four panel mosaic of Orion with the RASA, it will be two panel mosaic with the RedCat. Oh well. At least the FoV will be bigger!

I spent a few nights out in -15c to -20c screwing around with the tilt plate on the RedCat. Once I thought I had it I decided to run it through some kind of acid test and this is the result!

I have heard bad things in regards to the L-Pro and what it does to star colours so I think I made it work. I wanted to get more integration time into this however the trees had other ideas. The basic strategy was to start at long sub exposures and step it down all the way to maybe 30 or 10 second sub exposures and combine those stacks into a HDR image. Ah well, maybe next time. The important thing is the field looks alright.
