Description

M43 De Mairan's Nebula
M43 is 1,600 light-years from Earth and has an apparent size of 20 x 15 arc minutes, which corresponds to
a spatial diameter of 9 light-years. Physically, M43 is a part of the Orion Nebula and both M42 and M43
are part of the much larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex.  M43 was discovered by Jean-Jacques
Dortous de Mairan sometime before 1731.

Note: While I was imaging M42 I zoomed in on the image (live stacking).  I was surprised
how much detail M43 had, so I made that my target.  I tried to get the trapezium so I
also took 140 x 3 second exposures and processed that separately, and layered both
final images together.  Note:  The Orange color was pretty much what I was getting on
the 6200MC so I didn't do much with the final color except boosting the red on
midtones.
