Description

Sharpless 157, the Lobster Claw Nebula, is a bright emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia at a distance of about 8,000 light-years.  It is only a short distance from the famous Bubble Nebula. The small open cluster of stars located in the lower right of the image is designated NGC 7510 and lies approximately 11,400 light-years away.

With this image I feel I snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Operator error lead to hardware issues, coupled with using NINA & PHD2 for the first time resulted in a lot of bad data. Fortunately the conditions cooperated at the SDAA dark site (Tierra Del Sol) and I was able to capture more subs than I had planned.  I am not sure what caused the diffraction spikes in the upper part of the image.
I am most grateful to Ron Brecher (AstroDoc) for showing me processes and scripts in PI to get the most out of my data.
