Description

Three decent clear nights over the last week have given me opportunity to extend my integration times and put my Samyang lens through its paces. There are still some problems with backspace and tilt but the nights too good to waste on optimising this.

Here we have the ‘heart and soul’ nebulae, IC 1805 (Sh2-190) and Sh2-199 respectively, situated in the Perseus arm of the MW, 7500LY away. Composed of hydrogen and oxygen, ionised by the bright star cluster, Melotte 15 in the centre. The soul lies close by, with deep pools of OIII.

I captured these at f2.8 in hope of sharpening up the stars; I’m not sure this has made much difference. I combined data over two nights using guided 5min and 10min exposures on my little Star Adventurer mount. I used my L-eNhance NB filter in order to extract Ha and OIII channels.

Calibrated with dark flats that seem to work better than normal bias frames with my 183 sensor and post processed in Siril using GHS. Starnet extraction allowed me to process the nebulae and stars separately with much less stretch. The final recomposition has been sharpened and denoised  using free AI tools from Deep Sky Detail.   Please do enjoy.

This is a basic OSC processing. I will do an HOO and perhaps false colour images in revisions. Overall, I’m very pleased with the result. Sure the bottom of the image has some tilt issues, but the saturation, depth and detail are so much better with longer exposures and integration. Comments are always welcome.

Title: Synthetic stars

Description: StarNet removal - restretching starless image using GHS followed by Astroharp/Astroclean AI. Stars resynthesised in Siril before recomposition, with final resize in Fitswork. Still trying to produce better stars and remove halos using L-eNhance filter.
