Description

One of my new favorite regions, the filaments are so delicate and beautiful! In the Theta Muscae star system, the SNR G304.4-3.1 is a Supernova Remnant(SNR) in the constellation Musca, roughly 7400 light years away. The system contains a Wolf Rayet star and two large companions.
The Wolf Rayet star is the second brightest Wolf Rayet at Magnitude 5.5.
The delicate blue regions of the SNR are primarily OIII and are pretty faint and the red regions are rich in Hydrogen Alpha. The remnant is thought not to be directly connected to Theta Muscae.

Imaged in Ha OIII and RGB on the Planewave DR 350 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
Processed by me using Pixinsight and Photoshop.

The details on the OIII were so delicate and the star field so dense it swamped them! This image even with the dense star field is mostly reduced stars!!! I was so tempted to go starless but I did decide to then tone down stars around the OIII and tried to balance the two. The stars themselves are so pretty!

Thank you to Mike Selby or this amazing data!
