Description

A fine region to measure my progress in this art, I decided to spend some early fall nights (or parts of anyway) diving deeper into this area that I have previously photographed each of my first 2 summers doing AP. IC 1805, usually referred to as the Core or the Heart of the Heart, I have decided to be anatomically pedantic and dub The Septum of the Heart. Of course, this patient would not be doing very well considering the presence of a massive patent foramen ovale, but I digress.
I am surprisingly pleased with this result considering I only ended up with about half of my intended integration due to biting off more than I can chew with multiple targets on each given night and the ubiquitous Pacific Northwest cloud fight. I considered holding off and adding more data, sky permitting. However, the RC is going to be undergoing a tune up and upgrade, so I will revisit after that takes place. I want better stars.
I don't usually go this deep on documentation, but I really want to remember how I got here.

Pixinsight workflow:
WBPP
PhotometricColorCalibration
DynamicCrop
Rotation
AutomaticBackgroundExtractorᵃ
HistogramTransformation using ScreenTransferFunctionᵇ
Light Arcsinh stretch using GeneralizedHyperbolicStretch
Starnet2 with star_mask feature
CurvesTransformation for gentle bump of star_mask red channel
NarrowbandNormalization on starless imageᵓ
RangeSelection to mask cloud relief
CurvesTransformation on cloud relief for gentle decrease of L and gentle increase of chroma
PixelMath to recombine stars with starless image
Arcsinh stretch using GeneralizedHyperbolicStretch to re-balance histogram
BlurXTerminator - Stars 0.25, Halos -0.2, Auto PSF, Sharpen NS 0.9, all options unchecked

Notes:
ᵃ  Two instances of Dynamic BE tested and determined the auto version produced a superior result in this case.
ᵇ  Unlinked channels on STF and muted midtones before executing process
ᵓ One iteration using HOO pallet to enhance OIII presention, second iteration with HOS pallet to reintroduce red highlights
