Description

NGC 2403 is an intermediate galaxy. That is, it is somewhere between a barred and an unbarred galaxy.  It is an outlying member of the M81 group.  It is approximately 8 million light years away.  In many ways, it is similar to M33, including its size - it is about 50,000 light years in diameter and has many Ha star forming regions.  These are seen in this image as bluish clumps, especially in the ill-defined arms.

All exposures were taken at gain 139, offset 10 and at -10C.
