Description

High clouds already cast the southern hemisphere up to zenith, and from northeast there were low clouds approaching while we waited for the night on top of the Offersøykamm, a 436 m high mountain in the north of Leknes, Lofoten. However, miracously the high clouds came to a halt at the big dipper, and we were rewarded with some beautiful dancing aurorae directly above Haukland Beach and the mountain Mannen.
The weather stayed partially clear that night, with steadily picking up cold and gusty winds from the north. After the 90 minutes descent from Offersøykammen, i visited Gravdal church and another smaller hill in the area. I didnt go to bed before 4 a.m. when astronomical dawn set in.
