Description

The Iris Nebula is a reflection nebula in the constellation Cephus. The designation NGC 7023 refers to the open cluster within the nebula with the nebula itself designated as LBN 487. It is located approx 1300 light years away from earth. The nebula is reflecting the light from a hot newborn star of about 10 solar masses, HD2000775.
