Description

Clusters come in all sizes.  M29, located in the constellation Cygnus, has fewer than 50 stars.  First observed by Messier in 1764, it lies in a rich part of the Milky Way and can get lost among other objects.  As Herschel noted in 1794: "Is not sufficiently marked in the heavens to deserve notice, as 7 or 8 small stars together are so frequent about this part of the heavens that one might find them by hundreds."
