Description

North is up in this image. Central in this image is the emission / reflection nebula IC 1318A, also known as DWB 82 and LBN 251. This region is in Cygnus and is part of the larger IC 1318 emission nebula known as the Gamma Cygni Nebula. There are also two other objects from the DWG catalog (DWB 78 and DWB 83). There is a minor star cluster known as BD +40 44124 Cluster in the lower left corner. There are several other Lynds Dark and Lynds Bright nebulae in this field as well (LBN 239, LBN 259, LDN 891, LDN 892, LDN 894). These objects and some of the brighter stars are identified in the annotated image. This region's emission nebulosity is generally regarded to be about 5,000 to 5,500 light years distant from Earth. Horizontal FOV is 85'
