Description

This was imaged on the 9th,11th and 12th of October 2015 at about 1030 UTC time very early in the morning at maximum altitude from my location at about 40 degrees . The sky was a 10 out of 9 with transparency at a 5 out of 5. It just is simply worth driving to a dark location even if 400 miles away one way. I stayed in a log cabin for a week at the Heppner OHV park in Oregon and had a great week of imaging. My only problem day was the last night on the 14th with the most amazing clear sky I have seen ; except for one major problem. Now what would that be?? The mirror lens completely frosted up and was also drenched in dew. All when the scope was tracking at its very best with 5 minute unguided subs. Normally in N.E. Oregon humidity is very, very low all night thus I did not bring my dew shield with me on my trip. This turned out to be a very bad idea and next time I will always carry it with me in my car from now on.

Additional data was collected on 111115 at The Chiefland Star Party in Chiefland Florida from 24 subs of 2 minutes each. I took advantage with The Horsehead up an additional 12 to 14 degrees in the sky. To bad I only had one clear night to shoot from. Well maybe next time I'll get additional data from a different site this winter.
