Description

We have had a lot of clear dry nights lately, so I have been enjoying time outside with the scopes. I rotated the image to get the heart shape right side up. Struggled with light pollution, since this target is still low in the sky towards the city lights. Planning to shoot the Soul Nebula when it gets higher in the sky.

Tried something new with this shot: I did not do the All-Star Polar Alignment routine, but rather just used the rough polar alignment achieved with the PA finderscope. The mount reported that the rough PA was Azm: -00 deg 02' 02" Alt: -00 deg 08' 41" . There was no trailing or field rotation in the subs, so at 400 mm FL, with a "decent" rough alignment like this, it is possible to shoot good 4 minute guided subs.

Thanks for looking!
