Description

The 27 frames for this image were shot just before moving to Orion (and the onset of major clouds). The image is a little fuzzier than I would like. This is something I need to keep working at improving. Focus was challenging due to the high level of moisture.

For processing in PI, I tried something different.

* In the DSLR_RAW options dialog:

-- Chose Pure Raw for handling.

-- Set the Red and Blue scales to match those shown by the EXIF tool when checking my CWB images shot a few days after these frames. This is how I am retroactively applying CWB.

With respect to color calibration and other processing:

-- With this lens and with using CWB, I am noticing that the stacks come out extremely red - like red spray paint was used. However, the ABE tool in PI completely removes that red cast.

-- Used an ABE function level of 3 (instead of the default 4). This mitigated corner lighting in the upper left.

-- Used the Pleiades as the white reference. LL = 0 and UL = 0.22 .

-- Used MLT to reduce the bias on the Residual layer to -0.100 . This helped reduce the glow caused by the atmospheric moisture.

Thanks for looking!
