Description

I wanted to try a galaxy from my Red/White zone. My LP is so bad I couldn't find a guide star through my OAG with sufficient SNR to guide, so I had to revert to the guide scope. Installed an Orion Skyglow filter ahead of the RGB filters in the hope it would help. Not a great result, but fun to try. Looking forward to the summer nebulae!

NGC 2903 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo about 30 million light-years distant and 110,000 light-years across. If Earth were in NGC2903 this is what the Milky Way would look like from there. It was discovered by William Herschel who cataloged it on November 16, 1784. NGC 2903 has a very high rate of star creation in the central region. [Source: Wikipedia]
