Description

As I noticed last spring, getting out early before the air cools is helpful. There is more turbulence (= bad seeing / "boiling" images) as the warmer air at the surface begins to rise. It also helps when there is not such a drastic difference between late afternoon and night temperatures.

The image is rotated to be direct view. North is up and terrestrial East is to the left. You can barely see Europa itself on top of the disk, towards the right.

Each video (R, G, B) was 60 sec long. So, I picked up some rotation. I also took an L video (did that first), but chose to use the G channel for luminance to minimize rotational effects.

R: gain = 53, exp = 17.8ms, used best 30% of 2200 frames

G: gain = 51, exp = 17.3ms, used best 30% of 2200 frames

B: gain = 66, exp = 9.7 ms, used best 30% of 2200 frames

Ver B: Used auto-balance color in Registax to fix colors.

Thanks for looking!
