Description

This image comprises two consequtive images taken during my NGC 7009 imaging session.

On two subs I found this tumbling object coming in from right to left. The break at half left is due

to the CCD download time of the first overlaid image (download time 10 sec.)

Hence it should be a relatively slow object.

Now the question is : what was it?

Time of capturing the first image was 06 Sept 2016 at 21:31 UTC

Estimated magn. 12

Aquisition time : 300 s

Field of view : 0.515 degree

resulting Object transverse speed = 0.015 / 300s = 0.00005 degree/s

which means the object is pretty slow compared to typical meteors , polar orbiting satellites,

LEO satellites.

There were four NEO Asteroids between Sept. 6. to 9. 2016 :

2016 RB1 0.1 LD CA on Sept. 7th / Size : 12m

2016 RO17 2.3 LD CA on Sept. 8th / Size : 23m

2016 RL 17 8.7 LD CA on Sept. 9th / Size : 21 m

2016 RY 17 3.6 LD CA on Sept. 9th / Size : 37 m

I would rule out the last three, because of their size and LD (Lunar distance) and

time of CA ( Closest Approach).

The Virtual Telecope in Italy got images of 2016 RB! on Sept. 6, one day before NA

(NA could only be observed at the southern Sky hemisphere)

So, there is a good chance that I got by luck 2016 RB1, but I need further investigation of the exact orbit parameters.

Update :

Meantime I found the image taken by the VT, Italy :

centered at constellation pisces, unfortunately there was no time stamp. :

http://www.astrobin.com/263930/

Pisces/ Aquarius ca 2.5 hours difference : just before midnight. Bingo! (almost...)

Any hints or suggestions highly welcome !
