Description

I used, for the first time, my OSC Atik 4120EX camera on my 8" reflector. I decided to take 100 subs, each at 1 minute in length. I felt that by doing this I would not overexpose or saturate the stars.

I found it very difficult to process, as is often the case... I do not know why. I think my skills still need honing for PixInsight - I just need to find someone local to help me - and because of this it did take me some time to produce, but I am happy with the result all things considered.

I am pleased that I have picked up a lot of faint galaxies in the FOV, which is a far better result in this regard than my previous DSLR version of this. The OSC's sensor is very sensitive, in spite of serious light pollution of the increasing white LED type, here. I believe that the very faint galaxy to the right of the cluster is magnitude 16 and is 489 million light years distant, if memory serves. It is most remarkable that it is placed just above the star - if it had not been then we would never have seen it!
