Description

Well, fog, clouds, full-moon is what defines the last weeks' weather.

Today a clear night approached. YAY, no clouds. But it had about 8 degrees during the day, so fog was imminent. I needed an easy target that is up right after darkness.

I set everything up right when polaris became visible around 5pm, aligned, focused and went right for the Pleiades.

Got to take 53x60s Luminance frames, then sudden drop in SNR. The fog came in strong. So, that was that for the night. I Took some flats and dismantled the rig.

Let's see what we can do with that data...

As I had only luminance data, I created two stretches, one with more contrast that I used for Red and Green, and the other one for Blue. Pulled down the hue a bit, to get it to "Pleiades standard color" and desaturated the stars a bit and there we go. My first shot of the Pleiades. Nothing huge, but considering the circumstances, it's OK :-)
