As a beginner, I try to shoot the "usual suspects" first, because there are tons of excellent images to which I can compare my ones.

I got exactly two hours exposure for the famous M45 Pleiades the other night before my battery run out, and I am quite happy with the result. I stacked in DSS and do the adjustments in PixInsight and Lightroom. I took the shots from my backyard in a suburban sky (Bortle scale 5). I used no filter, although I have a CLS filter, but I have troubles to control the color calibration for the moment. The almost 50 year old Nikkor 135 f/2.8 was stepped down to 5.6.

There are some issues:

- I think I do not have the perfect flats, there are some areas which are a bit more "noisy" than others, it looks like there is a bit of blue noise coming through (or is this nebulosity which starts to appear?).

- The smaller stars have a reddish halo, is this because I did not hit the perfect focus and there is some color fringing? Or is it that I include a few images where the guidance was not 100% perfect and I have minimal star trailing?

- The general nebulosity is also a bit noisy, do I strech my data too much?

I would be happy to hear some advice!

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
