Description

Sharpless 2-101, the Tulip Nebula in Cygnus, is an HII region about 1800 pc away. It's notable for being in the vicinity (on the sky) of Cygnus X-1, one of the first observed black hole candidates. Cyg X-1 is just above this frame.
