First light for my mono-mod Canon 20D! I've only captured luminance data (via LPR filter) and I'll go back for the RGB data when the skies clear up again.

Thanks to some odd workings of EKOS, I also have a lot more data than planned for this. Unfortunately, some dust was moving around and my flats did not fix everything I hoped they would. It could also be an artifact of some of the weird things I was dealing with in EKOS. Even so, I tried to kill the weird dust doughnuts as best I could.

Description: Added in RGB data. I had some equipment bugs at the time - I initially intended 30 minutes for each R-G-B filter. I wound up doing 5/10/8 subs respectively for RGB, each 180s each. The Red subs, in particular, are not very good and show tracking problems. LRGB processing is hard.

Description: Reprocessed with a synthetic luminance built from the Orion skyglow filter images + the green and blue channels. The red channel had too many tracking errors in the 5 subs I have. I also pushed the data harder and commensurately made more use of noise reduction.

Description: Another attempt. Tried to be a bit more conservative with the stretch and less aggressive on the noise reduction. I'm feeling pressed for time, though, so maybe this is hurried? I'd love comments on rev. D.

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
