Description

"The Rosette Nebula (also known as Caldwell 49) is an H II region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula's matter." Wikipedia

My plan when I first started this project was to create an image that would be suitable for large 2'x'2' prints. To help get me there I ended up capturing the nebula in four different panels and then stitched those together for the final image.

The nebula color is based on the Hubble palette. So Hydrogen-alpha maps to green, Oxygen III to blue, and Sulpher II to red.

Eventually I'll add some more exposure time as it's still noisier than I would like but for this project I'm happy with the current result.
