Description

This is really the first I got to put my new ASI6200MM through its paces. I took Ha and OIII data on May 6th; however, I didn't have my focus that good. Since M16 doesn't really get in view until 1:30 in the morning I setup to get data on the 7th. I got good SII data and a few shots of Ha, which was lucky because I didn't realize my focus was off the first night. I also took a few L subs, which are included in the image. The A revision has out of focus OIII data. In order to combat the out of focus OIII star data, I had to run a severe defringe on the stars, which took out the blues from the stars. Once I get some good OIII data I will reprocess the image. I will also try a HaSIII version and perhaps other versions while I get more good data.

The Hubble image of the Pillars of Creation is what really sparked my fascination with space. I was beyond excited to be able to image M16. I will be adding more and more data to the image as it gets easier to image. Right now I can really only get 2 hours of data in a morning by the time it is high enough and before dawn hits. In fact I was so excited that I was awake for 47 hours straight. I did take a 6 hour nap today before I started processing, and I am setup to get more data tonight assuming the clouds clear up.

Thanks for looking at my image and clear skies everyone.
