After what felt like an eternity it was the first opportunity in months without any clouds for the first light for my new mono planetary camera (ASI 290MM) with filter wheel and the R610nm highpass filter.
Two nights - no clouds – it felt like I won the jackpot. So the motto was not Carpe Diem, but Carpe noctem. Accordingly, I used the time with the result that my USB-3 cable is still glowing red. Even if the seeing is never very good here (or seems to be for me), I probably can't complain this time. Of course, the filter in combination with the mono camera also contributed to this impression. Thank you for the corresponding recommendations to the "Masters of the Moon" here at astrobin.
The largest lunar mountain range, the Montes Apenninus, with its 600 km length and a height of up to 5500 meters, fascinates me again and again. Distance to the moon that night 401092 km.
By the way, I always ask myself how Apollo 15 managed to land, coming from the east, next to the Rima Hadley directly behind the main ridge of the mountain range. It was the steepest landing approach yet used in Apollo missions and the hardest touch-down, too. See image verion B.
During these two nights I consciously chose the 16 bit (12 Bit ADC) resolution / bit-depth for my recordings, which of course, as expected, completely ruined my free hard drive ressources.
My image data: Exposure 3.1ms, gain 227 (37%), fps 52 avg., 750 frames out of 30000
As always, I look forward to your constructive and relentless feedback.
