Description

Hello all,

The target for this session is NGC281. This is the result of 3 nights (13 Dec, 16 Dec and 8 Jan 2021) of imaging.

It took me more than usual to process it because 1) I was looking for a new mount, and this drained my free time and 2) I was waiting for Rogelio's PixInsight book. Yep, this is my first image processed using PixInsight (and GIMP)!

Some data:

* session 1: 13th of Dec 2020. SQM 18.95 (22:15), external temp +0.9*C. 240/256 lights kept due to environmental issues

* session 2: 16th of Dec 2020. SQM 18.75 (21:10), external temp +3.0*C. Here I kept 23 lights (clouds came and stayed)

* session 3: 8th of Jan 2021. SQM 19.05 (22:31), external temp -0.5*C. 157/267 lights kept due to a focus issue

Common settings:

* 75s, 350mm, ISO400

* 25 darks for the 13th the 16th, another 25 for the 8th

* 50 flats, dark flats, bias for all 3 sessions.

Processing software:

* stacked using APP

* processed using PI

* final touches using GIMP

The total integration time is 8h45m, which is not much (especially with a stock camera), I know, but clouds have been really bad so I didn't have many opportunities. Moreover, I wanted to image something else and, most importantly, test the guiding system and the APO I received on XMas.
