Description

This object is a faint globular star cluster located in the constellation of Aquarius, just over 50,000 light years from earth. It is the second faintest globular clusters in Messier's catalog (to M68). Although it is distant and faint, the core stars are able to be resolved in this image because of the relatively low density of stars in the cluster core. It contains over 100,000 stars.
