Description

I decided earlier in the day if the sky was clear I was going to image NGC 6960 with my

8 Inch Newtonian Astrograph because I've not imaged this object with this scope. When I

began imaging the sky was pretty good and I could easily see the nebula in my raw images.

However when I got to image 15 or 16 each image after that became darker and darker until

I could no longer see the nebula and less stars were visible. I decided to image a little longer

just to see if my images would improve after a little time had passed. However my images

just got worse so I finally called it a night. I'm not sure what the problem was because I could

still see stars but the sky did not see that transparent. I had to trash 20 images and I wound

up with 12 usable images. As I usually do I decided to process what I had and then if I

felt like it on another night I would try to capture more data. This is an object in my opinion

that really benefits from a large number of light frames to align and stack. With all of that

said please enjoy my first image of NGC 6960 taken with my Orion 8 Inch Newtonian Astrograph.
