Description

The Moon was brighter tonight than last night which is to be expected I guess. I decided before

I hauled my equipment outside that I was going to try and image something else in

Cassiopeia because it is about as far as I can get away from the Moon. I looked on my charts

and found NGC 281 the Pacman Nebula. I've never imaged this object so I figured it was as

good a target as I could come up with. I searched for NGC 281 but could not see it in my

eyepiece. So I positioned my scope where I thought it should be and took a test image. The

object was not in the image so I checked the sky chart again and I repositioned the scope.

I took a test shot and it was still not in the image. I checked my red dot finder and realized

that it was not where I had positioned it. I must have moved the mount tightening the

RA and declination levers. I repositioned my scope and took a third test image. This time

the object was in my image. Please enjoy my first image of NGC281 the Pacman Nebula.
