M34 an open cluster in Perseus

I had trouble deciding what to image tonight and finally decided to image M34. I've never

viewed this object or imaged this object. I've got an on going project of trying to image

all of the Messier objects and this image will bring me one image closer to completing the Messier

collection. These open clusters in an image probably don't create a sense of awe like

images of colorful nebula do. To be honest for years I didn't care much for the open clusters

because to me they did not look like much through an eyepiece. However I've since changed

my mind about open clusters and have come to love them. I enjoy viewing them in an

eyepiece in a Richfield refractor or binoculars. I also like to image and process open clusters.

M34 is not a large open cluster but it is a bright object and easy to resolve all of the stars in

an eyepiece. Please enjoy my first image of M34.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection.
