Description

This is my first test on a deep sky object with my recently refurbished 32 year old Celestron Super C8+. I also used a 30 year old Lumicon Cassegrain Easy Guider for this image. While this reduces the focal length and shortens exposures to reasonable lengths, it's not much of a field flattener. Now that I have the results of my first test, I've decided to order one from Starizona.

Description: My previously retired Super C8+ is ready for active duty! Note that while I fitted my setup for OAG in this picture, I ended up later using a guide scope. Finding and focusing on a guide star with an OAG turned out to be every bit the headache I feared it would be. Happily, I haven't yet seen any sign of the dreaded mirror flop whilst using a guide scope.
