* Distance: 50 Mly.

NGC 4216 is a spiral galaxy located near the center of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies, at 50 million light-years away.

NGC 4216 is seen nearly edge-on, has a size similar to Milky Way and is one of the largest and brightest spiral galaxies of the Virgo Cluster (brighter than the Andromeda Galaxy).

NGC 4216 has stellar streams that are interpreted as two satellite galaxies (NGC 4222 and NGC 4206) being disrupted and absorbed by gravitacional forces.
