Description

The Beehive Cluster (Messier 44) in the constellation of Cancer is a 600 - 700 million year old open cluster of over 1,000 stars. It is also known as 'Praesepe' ('cradle' or 'manger') M44 is 577 light years away, making it one of our nearest open clusters.

This was imaged between 17 and 22 December 2017 from our remote installation in Extremadura in Spain.

Red: 48 x 300s

Green: 48 x 300s

Blue: 48 x 300s

A total of 12 hours exposure.
