Description

Second Attempt at deep high res imaging of M57. My early image used 1/8 second frames, and didn't have as long a total integration time. This image is not quite as sharp because seeing wasn't quite as good as before and each frame was 1 second long using lower gain. However, 30 minutes integration produced a lot less noise, balancing this loss almost completely and therefore permitted use of some sharpening and more contrast stretch during post processing. Lots of nice detail and color and the including some blotches of Ha emission within the blue center.

Interestingly, the green channel showed some of the nearly invisible outer halo, but not enough to show here, nor process it to really show it much. A dark sky will be needed to separate the halo from the sky. A UHC filter might help a little too.

Description: Reprocessed in Fitswork to color correct background to a neutral color and show hint of faint outer ring.
Note: The image drifted during live stacking for 30 minutes, so I lost a lot of image on the left. Next time I will be sure to compensate for image drift periodically during stacking!
