Subject: NGC-5866, a somewhat unusual galaxy in Draco, located 50 million light-years away and about 2/3's the size of the Milky Way. NGC 5866 appears to be a lenticular galaxy, except for that prominent dust ring, so it may in fact be a spiral. It also apparently has much less dark matter than expected.

Capture notes: This was my starter project with SGP Pro, and I was able to fully automate the second and third nights of captures, including focus and meridian flips. Looking forward to more integration time and more sleep going forward. :-) The last night was done under a half moon, which had a noticeable effect on the luminance, but integrating the data still resulted in an overall noise reduction.

Processing: Fairly straightforward RGB processing. The luminance had some large-scale blotchiness -- clouds? -- that proved difficult to work out, and it was tough to pull up the fainter areas of the galaxy without overdoing the stars. Did a small amount of stretching with a star mask, which mostly worked though the two small stars in front of the galaxy have thin rings. Overall, though, I liked the resulting color and detail.
