Description

This object is a small globular star cluster, with an apparent size of 5 minutes, located 30,000 light years away in the constellation of Lupus (The Wolf). Located in the southern sky at a declination of almost -40 degrees, it is a tough small object for many of us in the northern hemisphere. Because of its low position in the sky, the blue stars do not show up as vivid as they are because of the atmospheric dispersion.

Many of the stars are resolved in the outer sections of the cluster. Although the cluster stands out well from the background, it is not bright enough to be considered a spectacular cluster.
