Description

This is a rarely imaged small planetary nebula about 40 seconds across. It is located in the constellation of Scorpius. The unique shape of the nebula is believed to be caused by a double bipolar outflow system. The central star is visible in the image as a bluish blurry point.

From the northern hemisphere, the nebula is low in the southern sky at a declination of -36 degrees. Its small size and low altitude make it a very difficult object for me to image. This is probably why the only other Astrobin entry for this object was taken from the southern hemisphere with a 27 inch telescope.
