Description

The night of the Perseids was moonless and clear this year, so I set up my Eos6d at Iso800 with Sigma 50mm Art at f/2.8 and let it shoot in 1 minute intervals, directed to the radiant of the meteor stream. Visually there were many bright meteors visible, but most of them outside the chosen field. Next time I go ahead with a fisheye too ;-)

Here you see a sum of the about 4hrs recorded, the raws were stacked for average one time (like for deepsky) and amximum another time (to show all the meteors and satellite trails). After processing both shortly, the meteors were blended into the deepsky picture. A third stack was prepared to center on comet Giacobini-Zinner, the small but bright comet just half way above center to rim, and the comet also blended in at the roughly the position it assumed at beginning of the session. Two of the first shots helped out to remove the smeraed comet from the deepsky stack.

Shown are the final result, an annotated picture, the Maximum stack, and sweet little Giacobini-Zinner from the comet stack.

It was a spenid and relaxed night with good transparency, too rarely I just sit out there laid back with a beer and just enjoy what happens. Have to work hard on this ;-)
