Description

This is my first light image with the ZWO ADC. I had the prisms set at 1.5 divisions. Upon further review of my test shots, I probably should have stayed with just 1.0 divisions. It's hard to see fine details at night (with prescription glasses). I need some more time with the ADC to "bond" with it, but my first impressions are good. Visually, I could see that it was helping. I could also see the effects photographically.

Full disclosure:

1. I processed this picture while drinking (appropriately) an Elysian Space Dust IPA (8.2% alcohol).

2. I was also listening to one of my favorite songs: "Хали-гали, паратрупер" (Khali-Gali, Paratrooper" by the group Leprikonsy ( a Russian pop-rock group). I still am able to read/speak some Russian and enjoy reminiscing about my trips to and friends in Russia. I often think about Russia while doing astronomy / astrophotography because of the many great contributions made by Russian scientists, mathematicians, and cosmonauts (and astrophotographers!).

There are plenty of times I wish I could (easily) change my latitude. One of those times is when I process planetary data. I am envious of people at lower latitudes who can actually get planets HIGHER in the sky, without so much atmospheric interference. Oh well, I do enjoy our 4 seasons here at 38 degrees N.
